"Mediterraneans: Music of the Middle East North Africa and Beyond" features music of all genres from across the Arab World, Turkey, Iran, Israel, and their European and New World diasporas. The show's repertoire includes classical Arabic instrumentals from medieval Spain (Jordi Savali and Mare Nostrum), Arab, Turkish, Kurdish, and Iranian rock and pop (Nancy Ajram, Amr Diab, Elissa, Sezen Aksu, Aynur Dogan, Haramiler, Googoosh), modern Arab classics (Umm Kulsum, Abd al-Halim Hafez, Fairuz), Sufi music (Hassan Hakmoun, Nass Marrakech), modern instrumentals (Munir Bashir, Charbel Rouhana, Naseer Shamma, Joubran Trio, Göksel Kartal) politically engaged folk and rap (Marcel Khalife, Hamza El Din, Amal Murkus, Rim Banna, DAM, Balkan Beat Box, Yeni Turku), rai and Franco Arab (Khaled, Rachid Taha), Middle Eastern-electronica fusion (Natacha Atlas), Arab jazz (Michel Sajrawy), and much more. We are always open to suggestions for new music and artists.
