STUDENTS AND ACTIVISTS CALL ON PSU TO GET RID OF SWORN AND ARMED CAMPUS POLICE FORCE
A rally and march was hosted today at Portland State University. The outcry comes after Jason Washington, a black man, was gunned down by PSU police officers James Dewey and Shawn McKenzie in late June. The mission of the event was to bring justice for Washington and prevent future deaths by disarming campus security and firing the officers responsible.
KBOO Web Director Jenka Soderberg was at the rally and recorded some of the speakers, including city council candidate JoAnn Hardesty, Don't Shoot Portland activists, and members of the student union. The audio was edited by KBOO Fall Intern Layla Kanaan.
