Is meditation simply about relaxation and learning to gain control over strong emotion or can it be a pathway to change? Is there a dark side to meditation? How can meditation and mindfulness contribute to the struggle against social injustice?
Nirali Shah is a certified mindfulness facilitator from UCLA's Mindful Awareness Research Center. Nirali served in one of the largest slum communities of Asia working on issues related to livelihood and health. She currently teaches meditation at technology companies around the world. She also teaches at Insight Meditation Center, Redwood City, California as well as facilitates retreats with Spirit Rock and Inward Bound Mindfulness Education.
