A.M. O'Malley

Born in Minnesota, A.M. O’Malley lives now in Portland, where she is the Executive Director of the Independent Publishing Resource Center and a teacher of writing.  Her own writing, in various forms, has appeared in Nailed Magazine, Poor Claudia and The Burnside Review, among others.

This year (2016), Expecting Something Else came out, her first full-length book of poems.  The collection offers, and seriously ramps up, a classic literary exercise: it's "based on a true story" - ie, seeded by autobiography while going beyond it, with art.  In striking blocks of prose poetry and color images containing erasures, A.M. offers new forms as she writes about how the book's speaker, the "I" of the poems, also changes form, complicating her consciousness.
