Most of the obits mention only The Doors, however, Ray Manzarek's musical imagination and improvisation took full flight long after his days playing Doors repertoire. Bay Area improv music and poetry fans will recall his many and splendifirous collaborations with sound and animal voice Beat poet Michael McClure (often at the Noe Valley Ministry concert series with curator Larry Kassin sitting in on Outside World flute).  Hope A Different Nature and Outside World draw from the wonderful well Manzarek-McClure Kassin, George Brooks (a raga playing saxophonist for heavens' sakes!) et al drew from in their pursuit of sounds a'musing. http://www.mcclure-manzarek.com/  and the wholly roar of LoveLion http://www.mcclure-manzarek.com/lovelion.html for those blessed to have seen or heard Michael McClure's collaborations with the improvising residents of the SF Zoo!
