Living in the shadow of nuclear war.

65 years ago, the US government nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

We say, "Never again!", and yet our country is still engaged in arms racing and selling around the world, combining a quest for global hegemony with a love of turning a quick buck through a little dealing here and there.

Ani and Lyn invite your participation in this important discussion, their special guest will be KBOO's Theresa Mitchell.  Call into the studio at 503-231-8187.

For 65 years, we have all lived under the threat of annihilation. What does this do to the collective psyche?  What does it mean to a teenager to grow up during the Cuban Missile Crisis, or the Reagan years of the cold war, when the doomsday clock of the Atomic Scientists reached three minutes til midnight--- the clock was a metaphor, and midnight stood catastrophic destruction.  That clock still stands at six minutes til midnight.

Einstein said: "Technological progress is like an axe in the hands of a pathological criminal."  Would you agree with that?  If so, how do we get that axe away?
