Journalist Nomi Prins helps sort our way through the current economic crisis.

President-elect Obama has just unveiled his new economic team, but the economic meltdown continues. On this week's Locus Focus our guest is journalist Nomi Prins, who draws on her extensive international financial career to help us navigate this strange new world of bailouts and boondoggles.

nomi prinsNomi Prins is a journalist and a senior fellow at Demos, a public policy think tank based in New York. Before becoming a journalist, she served as a managing director of Goldman Sachs in New York from March 2000 to March 2002. Prior to that position, she ran the analytics group at Bear Stearns, London from February 1993 to February 2000.

Her previous book, "Other People’s Money: The Corporate Mugging of America" is based on her extensive international finance career which fueled this devastating exposé into corporate corruption, political collusion and Wall Street deception. "Other People's Money" was chosen as a best book of 2004 by The Economist, Barron's, and The Progressive, and named by Library Journal as one of the best books on business ethics in 2004. Her new book, "Jacked: How 'Conservatives' Are Picking Your Pocket" covers her trip around America talking to people about their wallets and lives; card by card, issue by issue.

She has appeared nationally on CNN, CNBC-TV, Bloomberg TV, "Marketplace," Air America Radio, CNN Radio, and internationally on all BBC outlets, including BBC World. She was a guest on numerous radio shows on NPR affiliates like WNYC-AM and regional Pacifica radio stations.
