Today, the US Senate voted down an amendment that could have made some big changes to President Obama’s heath care plan and its mandate for employees providing birth control acces for women.
In the “Blunt Amendment,” Republican Senator Roy Blunt attempted to roll back the part of President Obama’s health care plan that requires employers to provide access to birth control along with other preventative health services.
The Affordable Care Act already allows churches and some religious organizations to take an exemption from the birth control mandate on the basis of their beliefs.
The Senate voted to table the amendment with a margin of fifty one to fourty eight.
