Poetry show medley with guests Barbara LaMorticella and Dusty Santamaria

Tonight's Talking Earth show is a melange.  In other words, a medley.  I just like the word Melange, and tonight's show will be a mix of guests Barbara LaMorticella reading a poem for late host Walt Curtis, and New Orleans musician and poet Dusty Santamaria talking with host Patrick Bocarde about Walt, his passing, and life in New Orleans and Portland.  They may also be interrupted by gremlins, since Christmas is the favorite time for gremlins to get into things, according to past movies and myths.

Barbara LaMorticella no longerlives in a cabin in the woods outside Portland, Oregon, but has moved into town in the past year.  She has edited or co-edited three collections of Portland poetry including Portland Lights in 2000. In 1997, her second collection of poems, Rain on Waterless Mountain, was a finalist for the Oregon Book Award and in 2000, she received the first Oregon Literary Fellowship for women writers. Barbara was awarded the Stewart H. Holbrook Literary Legacy Award by Literary Arts in 2005, an award presented to a person or organization in recognition of significant contributions that have enriched Oregon's literary community.

Dusty Santamaria is a New Orleans based artist, poet, and songwriter. They are the composer of 5 full length records and 2 volumes of poetry including "Like a Good God Gone Mad" and "How To Make Love to a Cactus." Keep up with Dusty's Magical acts at instagram.com/dustysantamaria/  .

Host Patrick Bocarde is no one of consequence.  May the gremlins ignore him and his audio editing from now on.
