Today was a City Council informative meeting on whether or not Portland should rejoin the federal Joint Terrorism Task Force.
Members of the Oregon American Civil Liberties Union testified about their concerns and answered the council's questions. They were followed by member of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Attorney for the District of Oregon.
Andrea Meyer of the ACLU stated that compliance with Oregon law prohibiting investigation of citizens based on religious, political, or social affiliation, cannot happen if Portland Police are involved in the JTTF.
