Legendary singer-songwriter chats with and performs for The Songcircle

The long-awaited documentary about Eric, The Songpoet, is finally in wide release this week -- available to stream on-demand via PBS -- so it seems an opportune time to re-air our in-depth look at his career, complete with Songcircle-exclusive, live-at-KBOO performances. Original show description:

This week's "Best of Songcircle" episode comprises two memorable conversations with the legendary singer-songwriter Eric Andersen: an extensive and entertaining phone chat from April of 2018, and an in-studio visit and performance from the following month. Through both conversations, we dive deep into his long and varied career, hearing tales of harmonizing with Phil Ochs and Rick Danko, inspiring Leonard Cohen, filming with Andy Warhol, attracting Beatles manager Brian Epstein, touring with Townes Van Zandt, collaborating with Lou Reed, playing ping-pong with Joni Mitchell, and more. Featuring recordings from his collection The Essential Eric Andersen as well as other career highlights, plus four powerful songs performed live at KBOO, this is an in-depth look at the lifelong artistic journey of a dedicated troubadour.
