Dear Community,

We are saddened to inform you that KBOO has lost a beloved volunteer, DJ, reporter, and friend: S.J. Oxendine.

S.J. was a part of the Blues Junction Collective. He hosted every 3rd Saturday from 5 to 7pm. S.J. was one of those super volunteers that was always there when you needed support.
He produced easily over 100 hrs of content for us when the pandemic first hit. He sent us hour after hour of content to play remotely in such an unprecedented emergency. His support allowed the regularly scheduled programs time to learn how to produce from home.
We lost a lot of our latenight DJs in March of 2020, and S.J. jumped right in and produced a series of late night shows to fill the gaps.

S.J. wasn't just a DJ, he dabbled in all the departments, from anchoring at live remotes to recording interviews for the News Department.

S.J. was a founding member of KMHD 89.1 FM and spent time on the Board of Directors of the Jazz Society of Oregon.
S.J had a real talent and passion for putting together a musically entertaining program using the American musical idioms of Jazz, Blues, and R&B.
