Your week in activism at a glance...

The next episode will be Friday, March 10.

SUNDAY MARCH 5

Nonviolence training featuring the CLARA (CLAssification of Real Alternatives) method and security forces liaison work

4–7pm; PSU Smith Center
This workshop features the Portland Peace Team teaching us the second step, Active Listening, of the CLARA method and about how to work with security forces.

Putting the T in Equality

6:30 PM @ Portland First Christian Church, 1314 SW Park Ave
a special workshop for allies and loved ones of transgender folks to learn and discuss issues that affect them!

MONDAY MARCH 6

March for a Permanent Home for Day laborers!

10 AM @ Martin Luther King Jr. Worker Center, 240 NE MLK
Join Voz, Portland Solidarity Network, Oregon AFL-CIO, Northwest Worker Justice Project, Coalition of Communities of Color, and other allies as we march to encourage the City of Portland to strengthen our partnership with them by granting Voz site control of the land at 240 NE Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, where the Martin Luther King Jr. Worker Center is located. The land is currently owned by the Portland Development Commission (PDC) (an agency of the Portland city government) and is needed by Voz to construct a permanent worker center for Portland’s day labor workforce.

ICE Out of Oregon Rally

4:30 PM @ 4310 SW Macadam Ave
Rally to protest the Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) campaign of terror in Oregon. Since Trump took office ICE agents have been terrorizing our community at courthouses, neighborhoods, workplaces, and many other locations.

TUESDAY MARCH 7

SAY HER NAME

7 PM @ Q Center
A space for transgender and gender nonconforming folks as well as allies to mourn, grieve, share community and build a rapid response network for trans women.

WEDNESDAY MARCH 8

International Womens Day

Join Picket Line Against Mayor Wheeler's Policies

9am @ Portland City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Ave.
Join our picket line outside either City Hall or the Portland Bldg depending on where City Council will be meeting. Until the City can appropriately provide shelter for the houseless community in weather emergencies and get them to the shelters, until the Mayor can find the courage to fire Chief Marshman and end riot cops at protests as well as unlawful use of force against citizens, and until the cops stop killing young black kids because they are black, we will continue with our protests. City Council must respond as if this is an emergency because THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. It is more deplorable that the City can't figure out how to do 3 simple things: shelter the poor, allow people to protest without getting hurt by cops, and STOP LETTING COPS KILL BLACK PEOPLE.

FRIDAY MARCH 10

Stand With Native Nations National Solidarity Gathering Oregon

3:30 pm @ Terry Schrunk Plaza, SW 3rd & Madison
This has been declared an all native nations and allies day of solidarity nationwide. All Native American people and non-native allies from all communities and tribes. All children and youth are encouraged to come so we can celebrate them - this is family friendly. We will be gathering to foster positive community connections so we can foster more positive and supportive relationships. There will be an opportunity to hear important speakers of the native community.

To have your event listed, please add it to the https://pdxactivist.org/ calendar - we cannot recommend it enough (no affiliation).
