On this episode of the Gap, Tammy and Althea interview Ramzy Farouki, the founder of the Center for Study and Preservation of Palestine (CSPP) in Portland. We learn about how CSPP was created, and the important work that it does. They're making a center for knowledge that can create a counter-narrative to what is too often found in academia -- as Ramzy calls it, the "except Palestine" rule. The people's journal, and CSPP's other projects aim to forward an understanding of the Palestinian struggle as told by the people themselves, and to form solidarity with other groups fighting for their respective liberation.

Then, we discuss "woke capitalism," for lack of a better term. It's changing the corporate logo during Pride month or a bank hashtagging Black Lives Matter all the while refusing to give Black people home loans at a disproportionate rate. We ask our listeners where they've seen this out in the world like this and how we should react. While there maybe isn't any ethical consumption under capitalism, companies still can do things that matter and that have impact (this just isn't it!).
