Fuzzyboo van with arm raised

What is that thing?

The creature that is the Fuzzyboo is a mythical being that stalks the streets of Portland, fuzzy and fun, bringing music and joy to children everywhere.

How did KBOO get it?

The FuzzyBoo van was donated to KBOO in March 2016 - it got its name from social media intern Nina Vang.

More background on how we got the van:

Blog post by then-Station Manager Monica Beemer in March of 2016:

We were in the middle of creating a new, 3-year, strategic plan at KBOO. Just last week, we started talking about needing a special vehicle for remote broadcasts — when we go out to the community and actually live-broadcast from an event or concert that is important to our community.  The next day I received an email that said:  "Woodblock Chocolates would like to donate this vehicle to KBOO!"

I sent an email to the KBOO staff and to the Treasurer of the Board and the response was unanimous. This brings smiles to everyone and could be our new KBOO remote and outreach vehicle!

How can I help?

If you love this vehicle as much as we do, and you can offer, or want to discuss, any of the following - please  call 503-231-8032, ext. 204.

  • help with paying the monthly insurance

  • offer a professional tune-up or on-going maintenance

  • body work (it's in great shape but we would love to make sure it stays that way)

  • help with cleaning, maintaining

  • offer a covered, parking area (at least 12 feet in height)

  • help us create KBOO specific signage!

We're looking forward to a summer of sharing the joy of the new KBOO outreach & remote broadcast fuzzy van and spreading the joy and importance of community-led, independent, commercial free, member supported radio/media!
