Un-Herd

Spoken or musical performance. This is a show that reaches out to the unknown of Portland performers, reaches in between the scenes for the most unique of performer, hopefully.

Mon, 11/07/2011 - 10:00pm - 11:00pm
Short Description:
Music by Philip Kraft on Un|Herd, tonight!

Tonights guest is tEEth, a dance group just to end my program with some irony, and perhaps a glimpse in to the great unknown, and unheard. You see, tEEth is one part choreographer (Angelle Hebert) and one part composer (Philip Kraft), and I will be interviewing the two following a thirty minute performance by the composer. Philip will present music from their recent smash success, Home Made, and perhaps a few surprises.

Un|Herd Tonight!

Tonights show is a double double featuring the magic sounds of John Krausbauer and Jean Paul Jenkins, and a cameo from Sustentacula. John and Jean will be performing electric string sounds from guitar and viola, as you might guess a slough of effects will be semi-improvised as is suitable for the sound of radio, performed in a dry room, as opposed to performance halls of which they define their sound live. As for Sustentacula, David Rafn founding member and drummer Ryan Steuwe will play cuts from their newest record and discuss some of the benefits of David's electronified new duo with Ryan.

Un|Herd #32: The Mood Dies

Categories:

Mon, 06/06/2011

The group you’re about to hear is a special collaboration between Mae Starr and Monte Trent Allen of Moodring with The Man Dies, a trio featuring Justin Stimson, Daniel Morris, and Dan O’Hara. This is a first time improvisation, as far as I know. Both of these groups are past Un|Herd guests. Oh, and the Mood Dies is a Portland pun, that may last for a short time. There is an Ethiopian Restaurant called, Mudai’s, that recently became hip as an offbeat music venue. But this recording and that venue shall go down in music history together in this archive, the importance of which may not be seen as of this moment. I am happy to have hosted this group on the radio and now in download form. Please enjoy, The Mood Dies.

Un-Herd, September 26th, 2am-5:30am.

This morning's show consisted of 3 genre blocks. From 2-3am there was jazz, 3-4am was rock, and 4-5am was 20th/21st Century music. Refer to the playlist for details. And as usual, 5-5:30am is the world music block focusing on current events related nations; due to recent trading of fire with Pakistan and the on-going conflicts with Iraq, music was played from these nations.

Keep it cool
