Racist Native American 'Mascots' in the Schools: Will the State Ban Them at Last?

The Oregon State Board of Education is getting ready to make a decision on abolishing "Race-Based Native American Mascots" at local schools, and the Oregon Indian Education Association has launched the Mascot Project, asking the Board to ban them in state funded schools. Role of Worker Owned Co-operatives in Occupy Movement

The United Nations has declared 2012 the International Year of Cooperatives, Congress may be considering the National Cooperative Development Act, and worker-owned co-operatives could play a role in the Occupy Movement as it seeks to challenge the widening wealth gap between the top 1% and the rest of us. Here in Portland City Bikes has been operating as a worker-owned cooperative since 1990.

Crater Lake Wilderness Proposal

A coalition of environmental organizations are supporting the “Crater Lake Wilderness” proposal to protect the 90-mile wildlife corridor of forests, mountains and streams around Crater Lake by designating it as Wilderness. This would create miles of uninterrupted wilderness along the backbone of the southern Oregon Cascades with migration corridors up through the Umpqua National Forest.
