An expert in sustainable practices and tax policies, U of O Law professor Nancy Shurtz will provide an overview of green commercial and residential buildings in Portland, both new construction and retrofits. “Seeing Green: Eco-Friendly Construction from the Earth Up” will be held tonight, 6:00 pm, at University of Oregon in Portland, located at White Stag Block, 70 NW Couch Street.  Shurtz will also discuss ongoing green practices within buildings and tax policy favoring green construction. Help teach Oregon’s youth about salmon and watersheds with The Freshwater Trust's Salmon Watch program, an award-winning education program that centers on streamside field trips to view spawning salmon.You don’t need to be an expert in water education, but simply have a desire to learn and a passion for teaching and getting outside!Adult volunteers attend a free half-day training workshop in August or September to learn more about water quality, aquatic insects, riparian zones and working with kids.  More information at thefreshwatertrust.org
