In the decades before the Civil War, the southern states resisted federal authority by way of the doctrine of nullification, which holds that an individual state has the right to invalidate any federal law which it has deemed to be unconsitutional.

With last week's Supreme Court decision upholding the Affordable Care Act, agrowing number of states are refusing to implement the law. Is the doctrine of nullification making a comeback? And like before, is the epicenter of this states' rights movement in the Old Confederacy?
