Michelle Alexander; THE NEW JIM CROW: MASS INCARCERATION IN THE AGE OF COLORBLINDNESS

Interview with the author of the stunning new book, The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness

Michelle Alexander is a legal scholar, who has who has worked in an impressive array of positions related to racial justice and civil rights. In her important new book she makes the case that the disproportionate imprisonment of black men allows the U.S. criminal justice system to function as a contemporary system of racial control. This has been achieved through  the "War On Drugs" resulting in as many as  in 1 in 3   young black men being under the control of the criminal justice system.
