Dean and Me by Jerry Lewis

program:
Gremlin Time
program date:
Mon, 08/15/2011

We present some excerpts from Dean and Me a Love Story, by Jerry Lewis. Which recalls his days working with Dean Martin, long before The Rat Pack, and even Elvis, when mobs of people would  fill the streets around the theaters they were appearing in.

Starting in the summer of 1946 Martin and Lewis became the most popular comedy team of all time. Performing before the largest sell out crowds anyone had ever seen, in every major city.  Also appearing on early television broadcasts and on radio. By 1950, they arrived in Hollywood and would make 16 movies before going their separate ways in 1956. Both going on to such fabulous careers of their own, that their pardnership is practically unknown to young audiences.

After surviving a bloody ambush, as result a long running feud between families on the open ranges of West Texas, and with the murderous McQuil clan in hot pursuit, John Reynolds hides out in what is known as a 'haunted valley'. The Case of the Irate Witness by Earl Stanley Gardner

program:
Gremlin Time
program date:
Mon, 06/20/2011

On his way to a well deserved, fishing vacation, famous trial lawyer Perry Mason, finds himself enlisted to defend a man accused of stealing a company town's payroll. Not only does the defendant have a criminal record, but part of the stolen money is found at his home.

Unlike what is falsely stated in the introduction of this program. This is the only short story written by Earl Stanley Gardner featuring Perry Mason with courtroom 'fireworks'! First printed in Collier's Magazine in 1953, four years before the long running CBS television series began in 1957. It was later expanded, with the addition of a murder, to become the 11th episode of the show's third season, in January of 1960, as The Case of the Violent Village.

Our presentation was originally broadcast when Gremlin Time was a weekly, 30 min. show. And back then we read an abridged version. For this program, Fortunato reads the edited out opening passages, and Red Ryder presents the main part of the story. We've also filled out the show with a couple of selections to evoke the 1950s presented as a musical break.

We open this program with an audio homage to the great TV series Perry Mason, featuring the voices of series regulars Raymond Burr as Perry Mason, Barbara Hale as Della Street, William Hopper as Paul Drake, and William Talman as D.A. Hamilton Burger. Also, a special appearance by guest star Edgar Buchanan.

3D Radio presents This Moment of the Storm, a classic science fiction tale written by Roger Zelazny, and first published in the June 1963 issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction.  Featuring Woody Creek, Mrs White, and Fortunato.
