This Friday, July 25th, on One Land Many Voices, cohosts Ned Rosch and Zaha Hassan look at the human costs of Israel’s latest bombardment and ground invasion of occupied Gaza with guests  Raji Sourani and Mohammad Nabil.

Raji Sourani (pictured above) is a renowned human rights attorney and director of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights based in Gaza City.

Founded in 1995, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights is dedicated to protecting human rights, promoting the rule of law and upholding democratic principles in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).  It holds Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and is an affiliate of the International Commission of Jurists.

In 1991, Sourani received the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Prize for Human Rights. In 2013, Sourani received the Right Livelihood Award, known as the alternative to the Nobel Prize.

Mohammad Nabil (pictured below) is a Palestinian from Gaza who has been living in Portland for the past two years while he pursued a Master’s degree from the Pacific NW College of Art.  Nabil is also an activist with the group Students United for Palestinian Equal Rights.  During the bombing and ground campaign, Mohammad’s neighborhood in Gaza was bombed rendering his home uninhabitable and displacing his family members.
