Judi Bari and Darryl Cherney were falsely arrested for car-bombing themselves on May 24, 1990 in Oakland, CA while organizing for Earth First! and Redwood Summer. They sued the FBI for violations of the First Amendment, claiming the FBI knew they were innocent but arrested them to try to silence them. In 2002 Oakland Police officers were ordered to pay a total of $4.4 million to Cherney and to Bari's estate. Judi Bari died of breast cancer in 1997.

We made some changes to the front page, which we hope are helpful to you.

Here's some information for programmers:

  • The Title used to be "[Program Title] on [Date]" - now it's "[Short Description] on [Program Title]"
  • Teaser used to be formatted text - now it's shorter, stripped-of-HTML text
  • Teaser showed all images post - teaser only shows the first image

The Schedule Episodes, or the pages that are connected to the promos on the front page, look exactly the way the programmers created them.

John Trudell "The Spoken Word" Fri U of O Eugene Oregon 8:00pm

We, at "Tillicum Wawa", are excited to announce the arrival of John Trudell to our State of Oregon!!!!

John Trudell will speak at 8:00 pm, Fri., Jan 11,2013, at the U of O's Columbia Hall, Room #150, Eugene Oregon.  It is close to the Long House on Columbia Ave.& 15th st. For info from NASU, call 541- 346-3723.

NASU will be presenting him along with the "Eagle Butte" drummers to open.

It is a FREE event and I'm sure will prove to be electifying and full of information with a good dose of humor, and helping people to see that we, Native Americans, are all still here, alive and well.!!

Each year the Skanner organizes an inspiring presentation honoring the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and highlights the good work of people making a difference in the community.  This event raises scholarship money for local high-school students who are seeking higher education.
