In the near future, songs from the production of Naked Man will be included on an upcoming CD by the Portland Gay Men's Chorus. Tony award winner, Levy Price will sing "Stained Glass Window" as one of the last songs on Tuesday's show...
Thanks to Bob and PGMC for a night of great music.
A Historic on-air performance by The Rats on Drinking From Puddles !!
The Rats were not only one of the best Punk Rock bands ever to come out of Portland, Oregon…The Rats were one of the best Punk Rock bands ever…period! A direct pre-cursor to Fred & Toody Cole’s universally beloved & longest running (of many) bands, Dead Moon, The Rats originally reigned from 1980-1984, releasing three classic full length LPs, all highly sought after collector’s items (and now receiving the much anticipated re-issue service via Portland’s Mississippi Records label).
The Rats perfectly captured the urgency & energy of the still young Punk movement of the time, while still penning tunes melodic enough that they burrowed into your brain for life.
Coming to Out Loud Radio on November 15th is an evening with the Portland Gay Men's Chorus. Bob Mensel, Artistic Director for for PGMC will be in the studio to discuss the history of the chorus in Portland, as well as its future. In addition there will be plenty of music from past performances as well as music from their newest CD. Some of the music will be tied in to the upcoming World AIDS Day and how that event has shaped the direction that PGMC has taken. Be with us Tuesday, Nov. 15th from 6pm to 7pm, only on listener supported KBOO-FM.
Tuesday Nov. 15th 11am on Stage & Studio, Dmae Roberts sits down with Associate Artistic Director Jon Kretzu of Artist Repertory Theater. Jon is in his 19th season with ART, where he has directed over 40 productions for the company.
For over 25 years, Chel White has been breaking new ground in both animation and live-action filmmaking - mining poetry, mythology, and his own dreams for material while pioneering such technologies as Rapid Prototyping and Smallgantics at Portland production house Bent Image Lab. Now, with the assistance of producer and co-writer Laura McGie and a number of grants and awards, Chel has directed his first full-length feature. Bucksville has been chosen as the closing-night presentation at the 2011 Northwest Filmmakers' Festival.
Dmae Roberts records a personal concert with The Julians, a female genre-defying quartet. This new Portland group blends contemporary song, jazz, Indian pop tunes and classical choral music to create their own style of powerhouse singing. Go behind the scenes and hear four songs you're not likely to forget.
Kristin Buhler, Liz Bacon, Maria Karlin and Vakare Petrolinaite are four hard-working classically trained singers who regularly sing with a variety of Portland groups. For the last year, they've been rehearsing and singing their own unique sound as The Julians.
